I'm starting to really like what the new Delicious... →
Ever since Avos (the indie company run by YouTube’s original founders) bought Delicious from Yahoo and relaunched it, they’ve been doing some really cool stuff. I finally got interested enough recently so I just finished exporting my bookmarks from Pinboard and getting all set up. You can follow me at delicious.com/chartier. The new “Stacks” feature is really cool: you...

Confronting Life — The Good Men Project →
“My wife, suddenly serious, pointed out a women entering the clinic. Within minutes, she said, that woman would be making a serious choice. Whether she kept her baby or not, it didn’t matter—what matters is that she can make the decision that’s right for her. And she can make it without people screaming at her.”

Jessi: Man, Chicago's streets are empty tonight.
me: Well, the GOP debate is on.
Jessi: Yeah, cuz that's what all of Chicago will be watching.
me: Maybe it's a comedy.
Jessi: only if the Muppets show up.

This week’s Robot Chicken got (the real) Christopher Lloyd to rap to “jiggawatt” with (an impersonated) Jay-Z. Watched this over lunch and suddenly all is right with Monday.

Oak Park promotes card instead of cash for... →
At first it seems cold, but I like the idea: Organizers said they want people to instead give money to charities that help the homeless instead of giving cash to panhandlers, who might spend it on alcohol or drugs. Zubak said they will soon be distributing cards to local businesses to give to shoppers. The cards will have contact information for local services — such as the PADS homeless...

If this, then not that
Bender: So do you know what I'm going to do before I do it?
God: Yes.
Bender: But what if I do something else?
God: Then I don't know that.

“Oscar, stop wagging your tail when I cough. Jackass.”
– “Dave, being mocked by our dog.” That’s Jessi, quoting me from a chat on her awesome new blog. But seriously: I have a crummy dry cough today, and Oscar was sitting under my desk wagging his tail, but only when I cough.

Friendly PSA: we’re not having kids, ever. This is a decision we’ve spent years to make and verify. Sorry to disappoint, but there is no room for negotiation. On the bright side: we love our nieces, nephews, and friends’ children. They are lighthouses filled with warm, auspicious white light in an otherwise dim world.

Tumblr: Please fix the RSS/Feedburner problem
Hey Tumblr, longtime listener, longtime caller. Love the whole thing you do here. If you get a free moment, is there a chance you could fix the RSS-to-Feedburner problem? As far as I can tell, the Feedburner redirect option isn’t working on any Tumblr sites; the original feed is presented to visitors. I even tried manually editing my themes to substitute in the Feedburner URL, but no...

Daily Kos: A Voice From the 1% →
Many of the 53% crowd seem quite proud of their Christian faith. I am not religious myself, but I am reasonably certain that Jesus would not respond to the poor and unemployed with shouts of “Get a job!” I vividly remember what it was like to be poor. To be concise, it sucked, and my heartfelt sympathies automatically go out to anyone who has to experience it, especially children who are...
